Unity Sand Ceremony (Children)
When children are coming into the marriage, it is appropriate to mention
in the ceremony that not only is a marriage being formed, but also a family -
then we name each child and/or involve them in the ceremony.
Unification ceremonies most often take place directly before or after the exchange of vows.
Feel free to browse the Internet for different versions of this type of
ceremony. You may personalize this Ceremony with your own version or thoughts.
(3 small containers of sand and 1 larger empty
container are needed for this ceremony)
Marriage Commissioner:
With this marriage a new family is officially born.
With this is mind, __________ and __________ will now invite
their daughter/son __________ (Name/s) to join them to take part in a
Unity Sand Ceremony which will symbolize the birth of their new family.
With this marriage, __________, __________ and
__________ are confirming the bond that has grown and deepened over the
past several years.
Today, as you each hold your sand, the separate containers
represent your lives to this moment, individual and unique.
As you now combine your sand together, your lives also join
together as one family.
(Pour their sand together as one family.)
Just as these grains of sand can never be separated
and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage and
family life be.
Thank you __________ (child),
you may now return to your place.
